How to Get Healthy Gums

All moms obsess over their kid’s gums and teeth. We all know the importance of quality dental care. Though dental problems are not uncommon most of us try to ignore them because of the dread of going to the dentist. This only makes our dental problems worsen. Going to your dental checkups regularly about every 6 to 8 months reduces your chance of having major dental problems and helps provide you with an worthwhile healthy beautiful smile.
Most dread going to the dentist because of the fear of pain or because of money issues. In choosing a dentist make sure the procedures they offer are covered by your insurance. This is an important factor in choosing a dentist that is right for you.

When choosing the right dentist you also want to do your research. Check out the reviews of the dentists in your area. Reviews are always an important factor to me. I would not trust my dental health to just anyone. I recommend the internet for this job. The internet is a big asset for consumer reviews.

Flossing is a major dental asset many people ignore. Most people think as long as you brush your teeth regularly you are good, but honestly flossing helps reach in areas a tooth brush can’t. This is how cavities occur in people who brush daily but don’t floss. You should floss after meals and when you brush. Flossing should be a major part of your dental routine.

Brush your teeth for two minutes twice a day to remove plaque. Use a soft tooth brush and use gentle circular movements on your teeth. Don’t brush vigorously or it can damage your gums and erode tooth enamel. There are many types of tooth paste. You need to find one that is right for your teeth. For example, sensitive gums should use toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth. Once again, when picking your toothpaste use your internet experience for guidance and check out other peoples reviews on toothpastes they have tied. The same goes for picking out the right toothbrush. Reviews are there for a reason!

Avoid bleaching your teeth this can damage tooth enamel immensely. Most people want white teeth but bleaching your teeth can shorten your teeth’s life. You don’t want denchers when your 35. Avoid it! Instead have your teeth cleaned every six months by your dentist.

Gum can help sometimes. Companies make gum that can contribute to your every day dental care. I am not talking about bubblelicious but gum recommended specifically by a dentist.

Mouth wash helps kill germs, fights against gingivitis, and helps prevent plaque buildup. Plus as a bonus, it helps in freshening breath. Lets face it some of us have bad breath naturally and need a total breath makeover.

Avoid smoking, dipping, and soda drinks. Smoking and dipping can ruin your gums, stain teeth, and cause cancer in your mouth. Soda erodes your enamel and destroys your teeth.

Tidbit of information: A doctor actually invented candy that can help fight germs and cavities in your mouth. Of course it is not meant as a substitute for brushing teeth but it can be a handy tool in the dental care of you and your kids. Yes is sugar free, gluten free, and made with natural herbal ingredients. It is called Dr. John’s Candies. Check out the featured herbal lollipop all the talk shows have been raving about when you visit his site. I haven’t tried them yet but I am going to and I will keep you posted with a John’s Candy Review.
